Pyrex is a brand name for glassware introduced by Corning Incorporated in 1915. ith its chemical ingredients and properties, Pyrex belongs to the 3.3. group of clear, solid borosilicate glass.
Pyrex endures extremely high temperatures and is chemical-resistant. Glassware crafted from Pyrex is smooth, crystal-clear, non porous, corrosion resistant and endures temperatures up to approximately 570°F without undergoing any sudden changes in temperature. Glass material with similar properties as Pyrex are also Simax or Duran.
The use of Pyrex glass poses no health problems to the human body. In fact, its non porous and extreme heat-resistant properties allow easier sterilization. Pyrex is used in areas where high demands must be met in resistance to extreme heat and chemicals, neutrality against substances or compounds with which it comes into contact with; such as in chemistry, petro-chemistry, with foodstuffs, metallurgy, health-care, microbiology, pharmaceuticals, engineering and in laboratories.
